Surrey History Centre reopens

Surrey History Centre will be opening its doors once again on 21st July to researchers wishing to access its unique archive and local studies collections.

Work begins to register the backlog of Surrey births during COVID-19

From 6 July work begins to register the backlog of over 3,700 births of babies born in Surrey over the past three months since coronavirus began. Registration services are reopening with residents able to book appointments from 6 July to register births and get married.

More refuge for families escaping domestic abuse

Surrey County Council and partners have worked to provide more emergency refuge accommodation for families escaping domestic abuse. National demand for domestic abuse support has increased during the lockdown as people have been more isolated and less able to leave their houses for help.

Surrey libraries to reopen from 6th July

Surrey County Council plans to start gradually reopening libraries across the county from 6 July, in line with Government guidance. The first libraries to reopen will be Camberley, Dorking, Woking, Staines, Redhill, Horley, Epsom, Egham, Oxted, Farnham, Weybridge, Godalming and Guildford.
