Alison Griffiths, Deputy Cabinet Member for Place

Divison: Sunbury Common and Ashford Common 

Alison Griffiths has lived in Sunbury Common for the past 7 years, her teenage children attend local school Bishop Wand.

Alison has a keen interest in the regeneration of Sunbury Cross Shopping centre, and believes that the recent planning permission given for a new gym above Subway will be a benefit to local business

Alison has volunteered at local church St Saviours helping Restore Foodbank, packing and delivering food packages to local family’s in need. Within this role Alison has met and dealt with a Number of local residents in crisis or experiencing difficulties which she believes would be beneficial in her role as a local conservative representative.

Alison became very involved with the local flooding, starting a volunteer group who helped local residents with the clean up of slurry and currently removal of debris from local waterways.

Alison recognised a need for trained Flood Volunteers during the floods of 2014 and now manages 2 Emergency Flood Responder Teams whose aims are to deliver Humanitarian Aid to flood affected residents. She also trains at no cost local residents interested in becoming Emergency Flood Rescue Responders, whose roles are to ensure the public and volunteers work safely and efficiently should flooding reoccur. Her teams are soon to be registered as a national flood asset.

Alison has also been personally recognised by David Cameron at a Reception for flood volunteers at 10 Downing Street.

Denise has served the residents of Spelthorne as a borough councillor for four years and a county councillor for eight years. She manages a small family business, manufacturing and supplying tooling to the civil and defence aviation industry.
