Peter Martin has served as the County Councillor for Godalming South, Milford & Witley since 2005 and is also the Deputy Leader of the County Council with responsibility for business and economic growth.
Peter was educated at Oxford and Durham University and is a qualified accountant. After voluntary service overseas in the Sudan he worked for over 30 years in the International IT Industry in London, Paris and New York.
Peter and his family play an active part in the local community. Peter has served as Mayor of
Godalming, is Chairman of Governors of St Catherine’s School, Bramley, Chairman of the Friends of Oglethorpe, Deputy Chairman of the Godalming Music Festival and worships at Godalming Parish Church.
He has worked hard at the County Council to improve local roads with a record level of resurfacing achieved and new energy efficient street lighting installed in most streets.
Peter brings experience, judgement and tenacity to the challenges we face. He seeks the best possible value for the taxpayer. He wants the best education for our children so gives strong support to our schools. At the same time he understands the needs of our elderly and more vulnerable residents.
